Description

Applications are invited for up to four fully funded studentships in the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences at Loughborough University. The studentships are central to the School’s overarching research interests in five areas: Communication, culture and public scholarship; Children, youth and families; Hydrological and terrestrial environmental processes; Migration, identities, the individual and the state; and Politics, crime and governance. University is keen to recruit students to areas recognized as world-leading in REF 2014, including political communication; social theory (including in relation to media); conversation analysis; nationalism and migration (including in relation to media); climate change, sedimentology; the geography of globalization; crime and victimization; social exclusion and poverty; European comparative politics; and children and families.

Eligibility

  • Open to UK/EU graduates with backgrounds in relevant disciplines;
  • International (non EU) students may apply but due to funding restrictions will need to find the difference in fees between those for a ‘UK/EU’ and ‘international’ student themselves;
  • Well qualified and highly motivated;
  • The minimum entry qualification is a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent.

Scholarship

The studentship is for three years and covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate plus a stipend at the standard RCUK rate (£14,296 per annum for the 2016-17 academic period).
